Most of Russia has a continental climate with dry and hot summers and very cold and snowy winters. Russian weather conditions depend significantly on the specific region you are going to visit, and your wardrobe for a trip to Russia will vary greatly depending on the season. Summer in Russia

Summers in Russia are quite hot, although short. As a rule, you can count on mild and not too hot Russia weather in June with temperatures around 23°C (74°F) during the day. According to statistics, July and August are the hottest months. During summer, the average temperature in Moscow remains at 19°C (65°F) and often surpasses 30°C (86°F). So if you are traveling in the summer, it is best to bring clothes you normally wear in the summer. Nevertheless, a sweater or light jacket will also be handy as evenings may be a bit chilly.

What is Russia's weather in the winter months?

Russian winter always comes with frost and heavy snowfalls. If your trip is in the wintertime, warm coats, scarves, hats, gloves, and other elements of warm clothing are essential as in Russian winter the average temperature drops to 15°F (-9°C). If you are traveling to the northern or northeastern part of Siberia in the winter, please be prepared for really extreme weather conditions.

Packing your suitcase, remember that comfortable walking shoes or sneakers are a must, so keep in mind that guided tours imply walking as well when packing. Also, if you are planning to visit an opera or a theater, pack something classy but not too fancy (tuxedos or evening gowns are not at all necessary).
