Why Visit Lucerne, Switzerland

It wouldn't be an exaggeration to say that beautiful Lucerne is the real pride of Switzerland. Encircled by Alpine summits reflecting in the emerald waters of Lake Lucerne, the city impresses with its architectural ensemble as Lucerne streets and quarters represent a bizarre mosaic of timber framing, baroque architecture, and the laconic style of the Middle Ages.

It is no surprise that Lucerne gets so much attention of travelers as the city has preserved a number of medieval sights of high cultural importance.  One of the most popular ones is the wooden Chapel Bridge, also known as Kapellbrucke, dating back to the 14th century. Featuring an exposition of photographs depicting numerous events in the history of the area, the bridge leads to the octagonal water tower, adding up to one picture-perfect view indeed.

Another great idea while Lucerne sightseeing is taking a walking tour around the old town and exploring some of the landmarks on the site. It is the perfect way to explore the 17th-century Renaissance Town Hall, the Winmarkt and Kapellplatz squares, and the St. Peter's chapel, which is actually the oldest church in the city.

Once you get enough of Lucerne landmarks, it can also be a good idea to visit the legendary Mount Pilatus to spice up your Lucerne stay with even more postcard-like views.

There is also a possibility to admire the picturesque views over the city from a different perspective while on a boat tour in Lake Lucerne.
