Arrival in Ulan Bator

Welcome to Ulan Bator - the historical capital of Mongolia! Your driver meets you at the airport and transfers you to your hotel for check-in.

There is no program planned for this evening, so you can dine in one of the local restaurants, start exploring the city center on your own or take a good rest to overcome your jetlag.

Ulan Bator City Tour

After breakfast, you meet your guide at the hotel lobby and go on a walking city tour around the most interesting attractions of Ulan Bator.

During the tour, you visit the National Museum of Mongolia, one of the leading museums in the whole country and the one which is responsible for preserving Mongolian cultural heritage. You also stroll along the main streets of the city, see the Parliament house and walk through the central Sukhbaatar Square formerly known as Genghis Khan Square. After the tour you enjoy lunch.

In the evening you enjoy Welcome dinner at the centrally located restaurant and return to your hotel.

Visit of the Hustai National Park

After breakfast you meet your guide and explore the legendary Mongolian Buddhist Gandan Monastery in Ulan Bator. Here you have a chance to see monks during the worship and see the impressive Golden Buddha Statue of Migjid Janraisig.

Then you venture to the Hustai National Park - the site of a unique reintroduction scheme of Przewalskii’s horse, called "takhi" by Mongolians. It became extinct in the wild in 1969 and, since 1992, has been successfully reintroduced here.

The national park is rolling Steppe Mountains with rather large patches of birch and aspen forests. There are also visible remains of Neolithic graves. In addition, red deer and wolf population has increased quite a bit during the last few years, as well as Mongolian gazelle, so you might have a chance to witness these beautiful animal species in their natural surroundings.

You stay overnight at a ger camp that is a Mongolian traditional nomad dwelling.

Trip to Karakorum

Early in the morning after breakfast, you take a trip to the Karakorum enjoying magnificent sceneries of Mongolian steppes along your way.

The ancient capital of Mongolia Karakorum is located on the right bank of Orkhon River. This settlement was founded by Genghis Khan in 1220, and during the era of its prosperity, it was a major junction along the Silk Road trade route. At that time, the inhabitants of the city were mostly merchants and craftsmen who came to the Karakorum from all over the world. Khubilai Khan then moved the capital of the Mongolian Empire to China, establishing the Yuan Dynasty, and since then the Karakorum began losing its importance.

Today you have a chance to visit probably the earliest surviving Buddhist monastery in Mongolia - the Erdene Zuu monastery. It was built by Avtai Sain Khan on the ruins of the Mongolian capital the Karakorum in 1586. Today it is included in the UNESCO World Heritage list entitled as Orkhon Valley Cultural Landscape.

Trip to Ugii Lake

After breakfast, you are transferred to Ugii Lake - one of the best lakes for fishing abundant in pike and catfish. It is the biggest lake in Mongolia covering an area of over 25 square kilometers. On the way, you visit two Turkish monuments located about 60 kilometers from the imperial town of Karakorum. The first monument is dedicated to the Turkish prince Kul-Tegin, and the other - to his brother Bilge-Khan.

In the afternoon you reach the lake and enjoy free time viewing picturesque sceneries and hiking on the lakeshore. You stay overnight in a ger camp.

Visit to Elsen Tasarkhai

After breakfast, you continue your exploration of Mongolia at Elsen Tasarkhai that constitutes a part of the Great Mongolian Sand dunes that stretch for miles and miles ahead. You have a unique chance to take some memorable photos in the typical Mongolian surroundings: a combination of desert, picturesque mountains, river and green grassland.

In the afternoon you visit a nomad family to see their everyday rituals and routines. You stay overnight in a ger camp.

Return to Ulan Bator

After breakfast you are transferred back to Ulan-Bator. Upon your arrival you check in to the hotel and go for lunch at one of the finest restaurants in the city. In the afternoon enjoy free time, so you can do some shopping at local cashmere and souvenir shops.

Later today you take a chance to enjoy a national folk show performed by a famous Mongolian ensemble "Tumen Ekh" featuring traditional songs, throat singing, tsam mask dance and other traditional Mongolian performances.

In the evening your return to your hotel and enjoy Farewell dinner.

Departure from Ulan Bator

Today is the last day of your amazing Mongolian journey. After breakfast, you check out from your hotel and your driver transfers you to the airport for your flight back home. We wish you a safe flight and hope to work on your future trips!
