Day-by-Day

Day 1
Arrival in Lisbon

Today you arrive in the glorious capital of Portugal - Lisbon! Upon arrival, your driver meets you and takes you to your downtown hotel for check-in.

The rest of the day is free for you to relax or start exploring the abundant heritage left here almost intact from one of the world's greatest empires in history!

In the evening you are treated to a welcome drink during your meeting with a local guide.

Day 2
Exploring the Highlights of Lisbon

After breakfast, you meet your guide and enjoy a panoramic walking sightseeing tour of Lisbon.

During the tour, you see the most famous attractions, including Rossio Square, Restauradores Square with the Obelisk commemorating the Restoration of Portugal’s independence from Spain in 1640, the charming neighborhood of Chiado abundant in old cafés, shops and theaters, and the Lisbon’s Sé Cathedral - the city’s oldest church.

You take a funicular up to the Bairro Alto and admire the view of the Mouraria district and the Sao Jorge Castle.

Then you proceed to Baixa and its Commerce Square where you learn how the city was destroyed in 1755 by a massive earthquake, and then totally rebuilt to become the city of today.

After the tour, you return to your hotel and have the rest of the day free.

Day 3
Visit to the Belem Quarter, Trip to Sintra

Following breakfast, you meet your guide and driver. Together you proceed to the Belem Quarter, where you admire the Jerónimos Monastery (from the outside). You also make photo stops at the ancient Belem Tower and Monument to the Discoverers.

Then you continue your journey on an exciting day-trip to one of Portugal's most beautiful destinations - Sintra, that is famous for its fairy-tale castles and beautiful scenery.

Upon arrival, you have some free time for lunch (not included) and then visit the fairytale Pena Palace with a round trip shuttle bus (up to the Pena Palace).

After the tour, you are transferred back to your hotel in Lisbon. The rest of the day is at your leisure.

Day 4
Flight to Madrid

After breakfast, you check out from your hotel and your driver transfers you to the airport for your flight to the capital of Spain - Madrid.

Upon arrival, you are transferred to your centrally located hotel. The rest of the day is free.

Day 5
Madrid Old Town Tour

Following breakfast, you meet your guide and enjoy a fascinating walking sightseeing tour around the most brilliant attractions of Madrid de los Austrias - the amazing old town of the Spanish capital that treasures historical monuments dating back to the 16th and 17th centuries when Spain was ruled by the House of the Hapsburgh.

During the tour, you take a walk around Plaza de Oriente, enter the gorgeous Royal Palace called Palacio Real, see the beautiful exteriors of the Catedral Nuestra Senora de la Almudena and stroll through Major Street.

Next, you proceed to Plaza de la Villa, stop by St. Michel's Market and walk down the picturesque Cava de San Miguel. Your tour finishes at iconic Plaza Mayor and breathtaking Puerta del Sol.

After the touring is over you return to your hotel and have the rest of the day free.

Day 6
Visit to Prado Museum & Train to Barcelona

In the morning after breakfast, you check out from the hotel. Together with your guide, you go on a walking tour to discover Madrid of the Bourbons - the historical area around the Prado Museum.

During the tour, you pass the Parque del Retiro, Puerta de Alcala, Plaza Cibeles, and three monumental fountains: Cibeles, Apolo, and Neptuno. Next, you proceed to the Spanish Parliament building, see the Atocha train station and explore the area of the Golden Triangle of Art made up of three most important art museums of Madrid - the Prado, the Thyssen-Bornemitza and the Reina Sofia.

The highlight of the tour is a visit to one of the world's greatest art galleries and Madrid's top cultural sight - the Prado Museum. This venue houses a unique collection of Spanish fine art displayed in the halls and rooms of this 18th-century Neo-Classical building. You see the most significant gems of the museum's collection, including the famous masterpieces of El Greco, Velazquez, Goya, Raphael and Rubens.

After the tour, you are transferred to the railway station to board your train to Barcelona. Upon arrival, you are taken to your centrally-located hotel and have a free evening in the capital of Catalonia.

Day 7
Tour of Barcelona's Gothic Quarter

After breakfast, your guide meets you in the hotel lobby and takes you on a wonderful half-day walking tour around the most outstanding attractions of Barcelona.

Barcelona obtains one of the biggest and architecturally diverse Medieval districts in Europe. During the city tour, you get to see Barcelona's Old Town called "Casc Antic" and its medieval landmarks.

You walk through the maze of old narrow streets of the Gothic Quarter that was formed around the Roman forum. Then you see the Barcelona Cathedral both from the outside and the inside, pass the former Jewish District "Call", the Sant Jaume Square, see the Generalitat Palace and City Hall from the outside, pass the Square of the King and the former Royal Palace.

You then proceed to the Ribera shore district where you see the Santa Maria del Mar church - the former residence of sailors, traders, and craftsmen who lived and worked there in the Middle Ages. The tour finishes on the most vivid street in Barcelona La Rambla, where you can take a rest at one of the open-air terraces.

After the tour, you return to your hotel and have the rest of the day free.

Day 8
Gaudi Tour & Train to San Sebastian

Following breakfast, you meet your private guide and private driver and enjoy a fantastic sightseeing tour dedicated to the world-renowned architectural works of Antonio Gaudi.

You start with a visit to the colorful Park Guell, where you spend some time strolling through its mosaic paths and enjoying the great city views.

The day is crowned with a visit to the astonishing Sagrada Familia Basilica - the most brilliant masterpiece of Gaudi that is rightfully considered the most recognizable symbol of Barcelona.

After the tour, you have a transfer directly to the railway station for a high-speed train ride to San Sebastian (first class tickets are included).

Upon arrival, you are transferred to your downtown hotel.

Day 9
San Sebastian City Tour

After breakfast, you have a sightseeing tour of San Sebastian. During the tour, you see the Kursaal Palace area, the historic Cathedral area and one of the most-visited tourist sites - Santa Maria del Coro's Basilica, an 18-century baroque church built on the site of an ancient Roman temple. You then proceed to the local market and shopping area, see the Old Town, the port and the bay of La Concha.

After the tour, you return to the hotel and have the rest of the day free.

Day 10
Rioja Wine Tour & Visit to Laguardia

Following breakfast you check-out from the hotel and have a day trip to Rioja region to visit a couple of traditional wineries, producing the world famous Rioja wine under the local wine appellation in La Rioja Alta and La Rioja Alavesa. You will get a guided tour of each winery with tastings.

Later we will proceed through the vineyards to the medieval village of Laguardia for a guided tour and being able to enjoy the magnificent modern architecture of the most famous wineries in the area.

After the tour, you are transferred to your Bilbao hotel for the check-in. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 11
Bilbao City Tour

In the morning after breakfast, you meet your experienced guide who takes you on a fantastic sightseeing tour around the city's most interesting landmarks.

During the tour, you see the Guggenheim-Bilbao museum (from the outside), explore the Casco Viejo - Old Town made up of the city's 7 calles - streets that are the origins of Bilbao, pass the beautiful Cathedral of Santiago, and enjoy the views of the Yohn's Palace or the Arriaga theater - named in honor of the "Spanish Mozart".

After the tour, you return to your hotel and have the rest of the day free.

Day 12
Train to Leon and City Tour

After breakfast in the hotel, you check out and meet your driver in the hotel lobby for a transfer to the rail station to board a train to Leon. Upon arrival, your driver meets you at the train station and takes you to your downtown hotel.

After check-in, you meet your guide for a walking city tour of Leon. During the tour, you visit the Leon Cathedral, a UNESCO World Heritage site, and the Royal Pantheon of the Church of San Isidoro, known as the ‘Sistine Chapel of Romanesque Art’.

You also explore from the outside Casa Botines, designed by Antonio Gaudi, Palacio Guzman and see the remains of the old Roman wall which once surrounded Leon.

After the tour, you return to your hotel and enjoy the evening at your own leisure.

Day 13
Free Day in Leon or Optional Day Trips

Today is free for you to savor magnificent Leon on your own or join our carefully planned optional tour to Burgos.

Day 14
Train to Santiago de Compostela

The first half of the day is free for you to enjoy and explore Leon on your own. Alternatively, you can join our carefully planned optional tour to Oviedo.

In the afternoon you are transferred to the rail station to take a train to Santiago de Compostela. Upon arrival, in 4,5 hours you are transferred to the hotel. 

Day 15
Santiago de Compostela Sightseeing

After breakfast at the hotel, meet your private guide in the lobby and enjoy a wonderful walking city tour of all the must-see places of Santiago de Compostela.

During the tour, you see its main attractions, including the Catedral de Santiago de Compostela. The capital of northwest Spain’s Galicia region is known as the culmination of the Camino de Santiago pilgrimage route, and the alleged burial site of the Biblical apostle St. James.

After the tour, you return to your hotel. The rest of the day is free.

Day 16
Day Trip to La Coruña & Finisterre

Following breakfast, you meet your guide and driver and proceed to La Coruña. Upon arrival, you have a sightseeing tour of the city and have a chance to see the Hercules Tower, the only working Roman lighthouse in the world (s. II A.C.)  & UNESCO World Heritage Site.

After a lunch break, you proceed to Finisterre - final destination for many pilgrims on the Way of St. James. Finisterre is often called 'the end of the earth' because of its position as one of the westernmost points on the European mainland. 

After the full day trip, you are transferred to your hotel in Santiago de Compostela.

Day 17
Departure

This is the last day of your amazing Iberian adventure! After breakfast, your driver transfers you to the Santiago de Compostela airport or train station for your departure back home. We wish you a safe flight and hope to work on your future trips!
