Athens City Tour

Following breakfast in the hotel, you meet your guide and driver and make your way to Kerameikos, the largest and most prominent necropolis in Athens. Your exploration begins with walls of Athens that were built in the 5th century B.C. by Themistokles, dividing the area into two sections: the Inner Kerameikos (which was the potter's quarter of the city) and the Outer Kerameikos (home to an important cemetery and numerous funerary sculptures erected along the road towards Eleusis, leading out of town).

Afterward, you make your way to The Temple of Olympian Zeus & Hadrian's Arch (short visit). This colossal ruined temple was dedicated to Zeus, the greatest of all Olympian gods.

You then continue your tour to the Panathenaic Stadium, often referred to as Kallimarmaro (translated as "beautifully marbled"). This ancient stadium was the exact place where the first modern Olympic games were held back in 1896. Then, you make your way to the highest hill of Athens Lycabettus, which appears in various legends.

One more point on your travel agenda today is the Royal Palace and today's Parliament, with the elite unit known as the Evzones in their picturesque uniforms guarding the Memorial of the Unknown Soldier. Continue with a drive along Panepistimiou Avenue to get a glimpse of the beauty of the most famous Athenian NeoClassical buildings before arriving at the Ancient Agora of Athens which is among the finest examples of classic Greek architecture that has made it to our days practically intact.

After the tour, you are transferred back to your hotel and have the remaining part of the day free.
