On behalf of myself and all four of us, I want to thank you for the custom Firebird tour of Norway and the Northern Lights!
It was wonderful. The train trip from Oslo to Bergen put us in touch with the Norwegian countryside in winter--beautiful scenery and a chance to see Norwegians on holiday with their skis as mode of transport.
Bergen was lovely. The funicular gave us a special overview even while snowing. And we found a great, typical Norwegian fare restaurant --Bare Vestland down near the port. Typical dishes served family style with a homey ambiance.
Three days above the Arctic operating out of Tromso exceeded our high expectations. Who would believe Fran and I, in our early 70s, would drive our first snowmobile through the Arctic hills at night and live to talk about it. A real adrenalin pumping thrill! Special thanks to our 19 year old instructor-wilderness guide!
Visiting with the sled dogs one night and riding comfortably covered with reindeer skins on a sled pulled by them the next morning thru beautiful hills the next morning! WOW. And the capper came on our third and last night in the Arctic on a ship which sailed out of Tromso. After having been shut out our first two nights, we were treated to about 40 minutes of magnificent Northern Lights show which the four of us will never forget.
The hotels in all three cities were perfect. We enjoyed the stays and the excellent breakfasts in all. Add the Mack Brewery, the northernmost in the world to your Tromso highlights, and the Ol Hallen Brew House next door as well.
